Is playing golf in Portugal a cheap endeavor?

If you are considering a golf holiday in Portugal, you’re probably thinking about a variety of different topics, the first and foremost being how much it may cost you to do so. Playing golf in Portugal isn’t going to be the least expensive trip that you’ve ever taken, but if you play your cards right, you may be able to get some good deals and go there on a budget.

Golf is, essentially, as expensive as you make it. The amount of money that you spend on greens fees highly depends on which courses that you go to. The more well-known a course is, the more expensive it will probably be. The most expensive golf courses to play at are in the center of the Algarve region of Portugal; as you move further out from this region, the prices will decrease drastically. So, if you want to keep your costs low, check out courses along the coasts and further away from the central Algarve region.

Since you are probably not going to be a native of Portugal, you will also need somewhere to stay. This can also work to your advantage. Due to the popularity of golfing in Portugal, especially for those who are visiting the country from other parts of the world, there are dozens of golf resorts throughout the country. Many of these golf resorts will offer packages that include tee times (sometimes even unlimited tee times), restaurant packages, and a variety of other things that you need in order to be able to enjoy your golf holiday. So even before you start looking at the courses, you may want to consider what hotel or resort you are staying at; you can get some great package deals if you look hard enough.

Another thing that you need to consider is whether or not you will need to rent anything. If you are flying to Portugal, it’s actually recommended that you do not bring your own golf clubs. They are incredibly heavy and run the risk of being damaged when they are place in luggage areas. So, for the safety of your clubs (and to save some money), just rent clubs when you arrive. You may be able to get the club rental as a part of your package as well.

So to answer the question “Is playing golf in Portugal a cheap endeavor?”; it’s as cheap as you make it. It may take a little more effort to find the packages you need in order to cut your costs, but overall, it can be fairly inexpensive for you to plan a golf holiday in Portugal.

The Climate is Excellent

weather on the resorts

Portimao golf courses are in a region of Portugal that has an amazing climate. Portimao is close enough to the shore to enjoy the cool sea breezes, but far enough away that it doesn’t rain all of the time.

The Mediterranean and temperate climate also keeps the temperature fairly comfortable for golfing, which means that Portimao golf courses are ideal in almost every way in terms of weather.
