An Easy Guide to Learning Golf Terms

Golf is a game of many terms. When you are just starting to play the game, it is tough to remember them all and can be easy to get confused when you are chatting with more experienced players. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed and frustrated when you feel like you are speaking a different language than the other people on the course. In reality, it won’t take long at all to start to remember what each of these terms mean, and you’ll be talking like a golfer in no time.

While there are way too many terms within the game of golf to list within this article, following are a few tips to help you grasp on to some of the common terms you are likely to hear tossed around.

  • Just ask. If another golfer in your group says something and you aren’t sure what it means, just ask them. Most likely, they’ll be glad to explain, and you’ll be one term closer to understanding the golf dictionary. Also, different terms can mean a variety of things in different places, so learning from your playing partners is particularly useful.
  • Look it up online. Use a search engine of your choice and track down the most-common meaning of a specific term that you have heard used in your group. The internet is a huge place, and you might be surprised at how much information you are able to track down about the terminology of golf with just a few quick searches.
  • Ask the pros. Pretty much every golf course has one or two professionals on staff, and they are sure to know a vast number of golf terms and expressions. If you are unsure about one or two, stop in to the pro shop and ask them to shed some light on it for you. Most golf pros love to talk about golf, and will be happy to give you some insight.
  • Make up your own! None of these golf terms are set in stone, and there is no requirement that you use them yourself. If you think of a new terms or saying that you want to use on the course, go right ahead. Who knows, it just might catch on at your club and spread to golf courses all around the area. You should always be having fun when playing golf, and making up your own terms is just another way to add to the experience.

The Climate is Excellent

weather on the resorts

Portimao golf courses are in a region of Portugal that has an amazing climate. Portimao is close enough to the shore to enjoy the cool sea breezes, but far enough away that it doesn’t rain all of the time.

The Mediterranean and temperate climate also keeps the temperature fairly comfortable for golfing, which means that Portimao golf courses are ideal in almost every way in terms of weather.
