3 things to remember when playing your first golf tournament

If you are going to start playing in golf tournaments, there are a variety of things that you should remember before you get out there and start swinging. Here are the three things that are most important for you to remember when you are getting ready to play at your first golf tournament.

  1. Practice a couple of days before, but don’t take a lesson. Practicing a few days before can be a really good way for you to get into the swing of things (no pun intended). Go to a driving range, play a 9-hole round of golf, and just get some good swings in. There are two things you shouldn’t do that are related to this. First, don’t practice the day before; you could wear yourself out or hurt a muscle, which means you won’t enjoy the tournament. Second, don’t get a lesson, because it could end up messing with the way that are used to golfing; learning new techniques won’t help you so close to a tournament.
  2. Get there early and review the rules. Get there early so you can sign in and possibly get started, especially if you’re concerned about being slower than other competitors. If you can’t get started early, then take a look at the rules one last time before you get started. There are some things you may not even realize are in the rules, so one last check is preferable so you don’t lose strokes or get disqualified for things that are clearly laid out in the rulebook. Getting there early will also help you to reduce any anxiety you have about the situation. You may also be able to get a quick look at the course if you’ve never been there before.
  3. Enjoy yourself and have fun. This is the most important part of any golfing expedition, not just a tournament. Enjoy yourself; you are there to have fun over anything else. Sure, you’re competing with other people this time, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun while you’re doing it. Relax, kick back, follow the rules, and enjoy your day on the course.

Are you still nervous about your first golf tournament? If you remember these three things, I can guarantee you that your first golf tournament will be a lot less stressful than you expect it to be. So get out there and sign up for your first tournament; you’ll have a great time!

The Climate is Excellent

weather on the resorts

Portimao golf courses are in a region of Portugal that has an amazing climate. Portimao is close enough to the shore to enjoy the cool sea breezes, but far enough away that it doesn’t rain all of the time.

The Mediterranean and temperate climate also keeps the temperature fairly comfortable for golfing, which means that Portimao golf courses are ideal in almost every way in terms of weather.
