Golf Tips: 5 Course Management Mistakes To Stay Away From

There are a number of mistakes that will certainly ruin your game if you keep making them every time you get on the green for a round or two of golf. One of the first and most important things that you need to know about being a successful golfer is that you have to take note of your mistakes, and from there learn to work around them. You cannot possibly become a better player without taking note of your mistakes. As a matter of fact this is actually one of the things that set apart professional golfers from everyone else. The following are some of the most common mistakes that players make in as far as course management is concerned:

  • Overestimating your shots
  • It is a common amateur mistake to overestimate the power of your shots. This is a situation where you actually think you can hit the ball to go a longer distance than you actually can. It creates a false air of accomplishment in your head and by the time you realize it, you are not hitting any of your targets.

  • Chasing after the flag
  • A lot of players often make the mistake of hitting with the aim of making the flag. While it is a conceivably good practice if you can hit it, it is not always the safest shot. You would actually be better placed if you tried going for the center of the green instead.

  • Overreacting to terrible shots
  • Everyone makes a terrible shot every once in a while. This does not however mean that it is the end of the world. Bad shots happen to anyone and they can happen at any given time. In most cases there is nothing you can do about these shots. A good player will have control over how they react to such, and most importantly, you need to be rather patient and calm when it happens.

  • Trying to do something you cannot
  • Just because you saw something on TV or during the European Championships and it happened to look so simple does not necessarily mean that you can pull it off. Some of the expert shots that you come across have taken years to perfect, so do not think you can pull a miracle

  • Not having enough practice
  • This is rather common sense. Always make sure that you have enough practice time.

The Climate is Excellent

weather on the resorts

Portimao golf courses are in a region of Portugal that has an amazing climate. Portimao is close enough to the shore to enjoy the cool sea breezes, but far enough away that it doesn’t rain all of the time.

The Mediterranean and temperate climate also keeps the temperature fairly comfortable for golfing, which means that Portimao golf courses are ideal in almost every way in terms of weather.
