How to Take Your Driving to a New Level: Golf Tips and Drills

Getting off the tee successfully on the majority of the holes during a round is a great start to a good score. When you consistently find the fairway with your tee shot, you will be able to attack the pins and hopefully make plenty of pars and birdies. On the other hand, playing from the rough or the trees will make your whole round more difficult, and will likely lead to higher scores. While many amateur golfer struggle with their driving off the tee, it is an area that can be improved with some practice.

The tips below are intended to help you find more success off the tee in your very next round –

  • Pick a smart target. Sometimes all it takes to hit better tee shots is to simply pick a smarter target for the shot. If you try to take aim at the narrowest part of the fairway and expect to hit it, you are likely to be disappointed quite frequently. Instead, pick a target line that allows for some error on either side while still keeping your ball in play. Being too aggressive off the tee requires you to be perfect on every shot – and that is hard for any golfer to achieve.
  • Curve it one direction. Rather than trying to hit a draw or fade on command based on the hole that you are playing, try just using one ball flight for every tee shot that you hit. While it might not be ideal on some holes, you will have more confidence because you hit the same shape each hole and have no doubt as to your ability to pull it off. Unless you are a highly skilled and experienced player, using just a single ball flight off the tee is the right way to go.
  • Avoid the major problems. Hitting a tee shot or two into the rough really isn’t a big deal. Most courses have rough that is not very deep, and is relatively easy to play from. However, hitting your golf ball out of bounds or into a water hazard is a serious problem when it comes to your score at the end of the round. As you are planning your tee shot on a given hole, make sure to take note of any serious dangers that lurk along the fairways and choose a target that will keep you safely away from those areas.

The Climate is Excellent

weather on the resorts

Portimao golf courses are in a region of Portugal that has an amazing climate. Portimao is close enough to the shore to enjoy the cool sea breezes, but far enough away that it doesn’t rain all of the time.

The Mediterranean and temperate climate also keeps the temperature fairly comfortable for golfing, which means that Portimao golf courses are ideal in almost every way in terms of weather.
